Cotton muslin painted with Black Gesso covered with crumpled clingfilm, allowed to dry (takes weeks!). Painted with another layer of Black Gesso, and when dry, rubbed with iridescent Markals to create an antique finish. The applied motif was created in a similar way except the base fabric was silk and the clingfilm was removed.

NEWS

Hello & welcome to our NEWS page. I read somewhere this Summer that a little rain must fall on each of us so that we see the brightness when it arrives. Well, I don't know about you but I am still waiting......................!!!

ARIO WORKSHOP PROGRAM for 2008 - 2009 is now available on-line. An on-line booking facility for the workshops will soon be up and running.

We will be starting on 16th September with the first of the Quick & Easy 6 week sessions, in addition we have been asked to run a selection of workshops in conjunction with Lifelong Learning @ Gorseinon College in the newly built Bryngwyn Centre. Also in October we have an exciting 2 day workshop with Kim Thittichai called HOT SURFACES places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Festival of Quilts at the NEC

WOW!!!......this is one of the shows that should go down in your diary, you don't have to be a quilter to love this show all you need is an interest in textiles and thread in all its forms. There are plenty of textiles on show, lots of shopping and loads of artists and crafts persons demonstrating  & on hand to talk to about their work. There is something there for everyone, whether you prefer the traditional or contemporary approach to working. No photos I'm afraid because we forgot the camera!!!!!!!

Visit twistedthread.com for a taster of the exhibits and artists

Textile Workshops @ Llandeilo Arts Summer School 2008

James Hunting was running workshops on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd August at the Llandeilo Arts Festival and I was lucky enough to attend with a few friends (also made some new ones!).

Karen was left to man the fort whilst I was on corrective training or was that meant to be staff development??? It was thoroughly enjoyable, away from the responsibilities of life, just gathering fabrics & threads, hand stitching and interacting with other like minded souls. Bliss!!

We are frantically preparing for the Autumn shows and away days - starting next week with a Cornwall Day at Lostwithiel followed by the Knit & Stitch at the NEC, and before you know it we'll be hitting the motorway again for Harrogate - Fashion & Embroidery show.

See our Show page for further details

And finally. .........

Make time for yourself this Autumn

Fi & Karen
